Unfortunately there weren't many for me to choose from since I took a breather from scrapping. I think I got to the point where I lost my mojo. Truthfully I'm not crazy about any of these layouts. However, since I seldom post, I thought I owed one to those who still grace my blog. Who knows what 2012 will bring. I still would like to submit to magazine calls, but right now I itching to work on my house. Maybe I'll post some photos soon of that. Until then.... I hope all of you have a great 2012!

Hey everyone! Sorry it has been so long since I have posted. Along with my artwork, I've been busy getting ready for my new business launch. I've started selling Rodan + Fields anti-aging products. My Mixed Media Frenzy!!

I am soooo addicted! I can't stop. I am just loving doing mixed media. Of course, I started with the She Art girls, but I am trying other things as well. The flower one is inspired by the cover of this months Cloth, Paper, Scissors magazine. I just loved it, so it was something fun to try. Don't make fun of my birds. I had the hardest time trying to draw some decent ones. Anywho, I just wanted to share my latest with you. I have more She Art girls in the works as well.
Oh, and then in my art class, we decided to ATCs to trade here in Houston for some ATC (Artist Trading Card - if you don't know what that stands for) event. I haven't done those since I started scrapping. This should be interesting. I'll try to take photos of those as well. We will see how much my style has changed since I did them four years ago. You can see my old ones in ATC photos here on my blog.

Just exploring some of my latest little hobbies - mixed media painting and a little beading (thanks to my niece Tay). One of my hubby's assistants just bought a new house, so I made her these salad tongs. And, instead of a card, I decided to make a little painting. I thought I would share them with you.

My First SheArt Project!!

Well here is my first "SheArt girl". This was so much fun letting myself just freely create. I used music paper for her face and body, but I think it looks like she has a funky face. I think I'll use book paper next go around. Below is the "start" of another mixed media project. Just thought I'd share with you the process. I did this in about an hour and a half by just adding layers of paint and stuff. Anyway, hope you like! Thanks for stopping by.

I Am Hopping On The Bandwagon With "'SheArt"!

While talking to my good friend Robbie, she told me about this really awesome online class. I'm not one to do an online class, but this one is so wonderful. Christy really shares everything she knows and give a great "how to" in her class. As you might know, I stepped down from all my dt positions to take a break from scrapping. Don't worry I haven't stopped. I still plan on submitting to the magazines in a bit. However, I wanted to try some new artistic endeavors. One of these is mixed media, in fact I head out to my first local class today! Anyway, I haven't painted anything yet, but I did want to share with you this class by Christy Tomlinson through Scarlet Lime.

A Farewell for Now

I guess you can sort of tell that I haven't posted in a while. I decided to drop all of my design teams for now. I just needed a break. I will still be scrapping though. I think I'll concentrate on submitting to magazines and just doing whatever for a while. However, here are a couple of layouts to share with you.

Getting a little "Heartfelt" for You!

If you follow My Little Shoebox, you will know they did a mid season release of sweet little line called "Heartfelt". I recently did two layouts using this wonderful and beautiful collection. I did one of Hayden when he was a baby and one of him with his best friend in the pool. I tried to show that just because a line is pretty, it doesn't mean you can also use it for something like a summer layout. You just need to think outside the box.

Nikki has started showing little sneak peeks of her upcoming CHA releases! Again, you will "NOT" be dissapointed. She has some really cute stuff coming out. Here is one for you that have those school photos to scrap. This release is called "School is Cool". Although, my little guy might argue with those words. "School is boring" would be more appropriate according to Hayden.

It has been a long time since I have done Prima's BAP. It is always one of those things I plan on doing, but time just gets away from me (I think I need to step away from the Kindle, lol). Hayden has started summer camp, and I pick him up later than I did when he was in school. I guess I could do something productive with that extra time right? I mean scrapping is much more fun than if I were to say - use that time for laundry, cleaning... Sorry I haven't been posting as much as I used to do. Again, I blame it on that dang Kindle.

Anywho.... here is my layout for Prima's June BAP. The cutie in the pic is my adorable great nephew Logan. Ok, I'm not that ancient! I was his momma's aunt when I was four.

I normally do not like doing mini albums. I think I am just one of those people that likes "instant gratification" too much, and doing a mini album just takes way too much time. However, I have to say I like how this one turned out. I used My Little Shoebox "Home Tweet Home". First of all, I love the colors in this collection. (They just happen to be the same colors of my scrap room, and they make me happy!) This was one of my design team assignment for April. I hope you like it!

We love our Farmer's Market collection so we'd love to see you create a project using our Farmer's Market collection for one or all three of the categories listed below.

This Used To Be A Pool Noodle - Bad Girl!!

Ok, so I let my sweet girl outside for a few hours yesterday while I went to the grocery store and to run a few other errands. Last night, my hubby says lets go sit outside since it is so nice. Next thing - I hear him laughing. I go to the door and look outside. There is blue styrofoam all over the yard, and I mean ALL OVER the yard. Tiny little blue specs everywhere! How can one dog do so much damage in such a short amount of time?! BAD GIRL!! The photo is just a sample of what is left of our pool noodle. She is just lucky we love her so much.

I didn't put a lot of effort into mine, but I'm thinking I should have because the girls really made me look bad this week. They all did such fabulous jobs with Nikki's papers!! Nikki Sivils March Challenge!

This photo of my darling "big" puppy, Jolie, cracks me up. While I was away for spring break, she stayed at her favorite pet resort. This photo was taken there on St. Patrick's day. I have no idea how they got her to sit still for the photo. I'm thinking they probably glued that hat on to her head!

Yep, it's that time again! Sorry I missed last week, but I was doing things like the above photos in the layout. Hayden was feeding the giraffe, and I couldn't capture "one" photo of "any" of the kids feeding them! Oh well, I still got some really cute pictures. I just adore those giraffes. Sketch Challenge with My Little Shoebox!

Hey ya'll!! We just got finished with Hayden's spring break here! (If you have been wondering where I was!) He and I took a drive to Dallas. We got to visit with family and friends, and also squeezed in a trip to the Dallas Zoo in there. That zoo is awesome by the way. We drove back Thursday with my sister in tow. Then she and I flew out Friday to Tennessee to my other sister's. We wanted to visit our mom, who seems to be up and down. We never know when it is going to be our last time to see her. Anywho, I got home last night at 10 pm. I was one tired puppy.

The layout above is of Gavin, my little nephew. He was so cute. Every time I took a picture the camera flash would make him squint his eyes. Just another layout using some of my goodies that I got at CHA from Jillibean Soup. I really like how this layout turned out. My style seems to be a more graphic and linear lately, lol. What will it be in six months? I never know. I don't think I like to stay the same. Thank goodness I don't change my house decor as often as I do my scrapping style. My husband would surely Anywho... as I say here is another layout for ya!

The Collasped Cake!

Hee,hee this is my God son and nephew Karson. His mommy made this really adorable cake with cars and firetrucks on top for his birthday. The little city had a major disaster. The whole city collasped! Alas, the birthday still went on, and it didn't seem to bother Karson one bit.

On my layout above I have a mixture of Jillibean Soup products - some old - some new. Since I go to CHA and work at Nikki Sivils booth, I get to visit other booths. One of the little perks is getting some CHA goodies. I was thrilled to say the least that I got some Jillibean Soup products. They are always so fun, and I love the colors they use in their papers!

Sketches 4 Cards

Not long ago, I shared with you "Sketches 2 Scrapbook". It was a iphone app that I was asked to be a part of. Now there is an app for cards too called "Sketches 4 Cards". How cool is it to have a sketch right at your fingertips, when you are lost for inspiration? If you go to crops, all you have to do is bring your phone. If you are like me, you don't have to worry about leaving that sketch that you "remembered" to print out but "forgot" to bring with you! Now you can have it on your phone.

Anyway, I was asked to do make a card for the "Sketches 4 Cards" app too. I used the adorable new collection from Nikki Sivils "It's Raining, It's Pouring" to make my card. Don't look too close those! LOL, I can be such a goober sometimes! I put my raindrop paper upside down - of course, maybe it is supposed to go that way?? You decide, lol. It was an adorable sketch, and I had a lot of fun working with it. I hope you like it despite my boo boo!

Soft and muted colors this week "and" next week too-they're killing me over there! I struggle with muted colors. This girl likes her colors in your face! Oh well, one survives, lol. Here is my layout for this week. Our challenge is to have lace, ribbon or punches. And, umm.. you can see that some of my colors have just a little more punch to them. I know. I'm such a rebel.

We will be accepting applications for our new Design Team from March 1st thru the 20th. If you are interested in the Design Team Coordinator position, please mention this within your application. All interested designers should submit the following information to dtcall@tadacreativestudios.com:

3.3 layouts and/or projects representing your best design work.

(Please, JPG files should be no larger than 500kb each.)

(3x or more per week)

7.Share why you wish to join the TaDa design team. (If applying for the Design Coordinator position, please included what qualifies you for the position.)

My Little Shoebox is looking for talented, motivated, responsible designers who have time

to commit to design layouts and projects each month with our products and promote our

products online and at their local stores. We haven't set a specific number of designers for our

team. We welcome international submissions.

We are looking for:

1. Enthusiastic, creative people that love My Little Shoebox and are able to do monthly

assignments such as layouts, projects, and cards with our products.

2. You must post your work on 2 different galleries plus the MLS galleries

3. You must be able to commit to a 12 months term, which will be from

April 1, 2011 through March 31, 2012.

4. You must be at least 18 years of age.

5. You agree to release the rights of your designs to My Little Shoebox for display on the

company website, blog, and in company publications.

6. If needed, your designs may also be needed for display at trade shows.

7. In addition, as a design team member, you will be contributing twice per term to our

company newsletter and be required quarterly to make a photo or video highlighting a

technique for the blog.

8. You may be required to contribute to the company’s blog during your term.

9. International submissions welcome.

In return you will receive:

1. Packages filled with plenty of MLS products to design with.

2. Your picture and bio on the My Little Shoebox website

3. Your own personal gallery on the My Little Shoebox website.

1. Full name, address, phone number and email address

2. 2 layouts, 1 card and 1 project representing your best never before seen work using MLS

products (jpeg files no larger than 500 kb)

5. Write a paragraph about yourself telling us why you think you'll be a good fit for the MLS

team.

6. If you've been published.

7. If you teach classes.

Color Combos Galore 180 is Live!!

You will have to pardon my absence lately. Our house as been a little under the weather. I squeezed this one out for the challenge even though I have not felt like scrapping - sorry if it is not great. I missed last week, and I didn't want to let CCG down another week. On a happier note though - my husband is still living! My hubby was home all last week (5 days - plus the weekends) sick (yeah, I'm pretty sure the rotten scoundrel gave it to me), and I did not kill him. He stole my computer all that week and was plain grumpy. I deserve a medal. It is amazing when I am sick I still have to get Hayden up, feed him, take him to school, take the dog out, go grocery shopping, make dinner.... Ok, I know all you moms get it. Whew, that felt better to get that off my chest, lol. Anywho.... let me pop up this weeks color combo and my layout for ya!

Promoting "The Scrappy Tree" and Happy Valentine's Day!

I was asked to be a guest designer for "The Scrappy Tree" which is a great blog. What I love about them is that they are always doing something to support some sort of charity. Seriously, how cool is that? It is great using our talent as scrappers not only to perserve memories but for charity as well. This month is was the charity "Save the Children". If you would like to make a donation to "Save the Children", you can do so HERE. I know there are tons of children around the globe that need our help. Remember it can start at home as well. You may not have the money to donate, but you might have the time. There are tons of children that just might need someone to listen or care. Even the smallest things can make a difference in a child's life.

Nikki Sivils Stuff!

Well, I just got back from CHA last night. I am hoping Nikki and all made it. I know the tarmac in Dallas looked like a badly kept ice skating rink, and from the sky the roads were desolate at 3:30 pm. Anyway, I made it home and was only about 45 minutes later that I would have been. This, despite the weather returning home, was the absolute best show we've had! Her new releases (which are stinkin adorable) did absolutely awesome at the show! That last morning I woke up a little horse from talking so much. It was fun, fun, fun!

I still need to take photos of my CHA work for Nikki, but for now I will share some other Nikki stuff with you. First off, we have a challenge every month that we ask all of her blog followers to play along. Here is the link - January Challenge "Goals". Here is my layout for the challenge. I used on of Nikki's very first collections "My Sweet Cherry" Pie. It is one of my all time favorite of hers!

You guys need to check out PageMaps for February. Several of the girls from Nikki's design team were PageMaps divas this month. Be sure to check them out! Becky Fleck does the most awesome sketches!

Twisted Sketches #86 is Up!

Sadly to say, this is my last sketch with Twisted Sketches. I have been with them since the beginning, and it has been loads of fun. I wish all those ladies the best. I'll bet the new team is awesome!

Our "twist" this week over at Twisted Sketches is "fresh"- any how any way! I chose to do a layout about fresh cut grass. I just love that smell - especially in the spring when you've been cooped up all winter. Ahh, I can imagine it now.

Well, seeing that my puppy chewed my power cord to my laptop I am using our MAC. My hubby never made it where I could cut and paste, or at least I can't figure it out. Needless to say I can't copy the inspiration board for you. You'll just have to swing on over to Color Combos Galore and check it out yourself. Sorry about that! However, I can show you my layout. Our challenge this week is "comfort". I took my idea from our inspiration photo. I took a photo of my cup of green tea. I'll often have that in the morning over coffee when I am cold. Hey all you Twisted Sketches followers! The sketch is up over at the site. Come play along! The twist this week is "winter" any how, any way! My layout is of my old house in Massachusetts, where we had snow, snow, snow and the more snow. However, it rather cold here in Houston, and now that I have lived in and become acclimated to the weather - I have to say I have become a big wimp. I am really really dreading taking the puppy out in the morning! This is one time her "doing her business" inside almost sounds like a good thing, lol!

If you live where it is cold, I hope you are freezing your butt off! I'd hate to be doing this alone! If you live ins say "Australia", I'm seriously envious of you right now! I have to say though, I do miss the snow and the snow pictures!

Last year I was fortunate enough to be a part of this awesome iphone App Sketches2Scrapbook. In fact, if you follow Scrapbook Update (a site that keeps up with the lastest in scrapbooking news), they just recently had an article on the site "iphone as a Traditional Srapbooker's Tool" by May Flaum. It is amazing how far technology is taking us. We just purchased an ipad, and my almost 7 year-old as completely taken it over. Anyway, how cool is it to be able to just click on an app on your iphone "anywhere" you are and have sketches right there at your fingertips?

I want to share with you the two layouts that I did using sketches from Sketches2Scrapbook. You'll have to download the app on you iphone to see the sketches that were my inspiration. I promise you will not be disappointed if you do!

Well, we just got back from back-woods Louisiana last night, where we don't have internet or a cell phone signal. Yes, I survived, but only because I downloaded a few books to my kindle before I left home. We had a good Christmas, and as usual, there were tons of us since Brett's family is pretty huge!

Anyway, down to business. These are a little late, but better late than never right!?! First off, let me share with you this past Wednesday's Twisted Sketches that I made. The "twist" this week was to use "remember" in our layout - any how - any way. If you'd like to play along just click on the link.

Happy Holidays everyone!! Whether you celebrate Christmas or not, it is still a joyous time of the year. Having a little one makes it even more enjoyable and special. I love seeing the excitement and anticipation on Hayden's little face on Christmas morning.

Our color combo over at Color Combos Galore are pretty much our traditional Christmas colors. Therefore it seem appropriate to do a layout centered around Christmas. I love this photo of my little guy with Santa (although he isn't too "happy" about it). Hope you guys will play along with us this week!

I just got my box from Cards Magazine, and I was pleasantly surprised to see I had a two page spread (well, not quite a spread, but two pages!) in the August 2010 issue. I created this card when I was on the Pebbles Inc. design team using one of my favorite lines from them "Tree House". Anywho, just giving a little toot because I didn't know until now.

This is for this week's Twisted Sketches #76 challenge. Our twist is to use "history" in our layout - any way any how. I thought about doing a serious layout, but I had this photo of my hubby's mom. Not only is she sticking her tongue out at me, but she's got that goofy looking cover thing over her head so the wind doesn't mess up her hairdo. I know most of you follow me to see my latest scrapping goodies, but I thought I'd share a little of my life as well! As you know we have a puppy who I and my son fondly call "the wild beast". This is partly because she is just plain and simply wild due to the fact that she's HUGE and almost five months old! I have no idea how she got so big so quickly! Anywho, we went to Louisiana for Brett's mom's 75th birthday party. Jolie, the puppy, stayed at the Cypress Fall Pet Resort and Spa, bwhahaa!! That cracks me up. So far I have received no phone calls about any damage that she may have caused. I am keeping my fingers crossed when I go pick her up! (I mean I am keeping my fingers crossed for "no damage").

Well, it is a five hour drive to Cajun land down there. We drove down Saturday night - had the party yesterday at the park - drove back last night - WHEW! We had a crazy awesome time. Brett's family is big - five of them kids with the spouses, their children, their children's children and some of them so on.... Let it be said right now - yes, I did great in English! I can write properly, but I prefer to write like I talk or think. Get used to it from me. :) I thought I would share some photos of the crazy party we had. It was so fun!!

The character that looks like the "Jack in the Box" ball below is my goofy hubby Brett.

Sack races Cajun style - in "crawfish sacks" of course! Karson, our nephew and God child would not step foot in a crawfish sack until he was sure there were no crawfish in them!

There is my goofy husband again!! Ya think that sack is a little small for him?

You feeling sorry for me yet? Yep, this is what I have to live with!!

Mama Rena pinning the nose on Elmo. Oh, and I must share a mother's proud moment. "My son" Hayden was the only one to get it the nose right where it belonged. His achievements in life make me so proud.

Poor Leenie. She just wasn't getting it. We kept saying left. We finally had to break down and tell her "her (other) left".

Mama Rena swing at air. It didn't help that every time she swung Uncle Todd would pull the lady bug pinata up in the air. He's such a meanie.

Ah Yah!! Who knew one little lady bug would be so hard to kill?!? We finally had to resort to pulling her strings to get her open. She (or he - they say lady bugs are male, right??) was one tough little lady!

Our newest addition, Gavin was just pooped out over all the excitement! After this we had a little trip to the water, where the kids decided it was best to get all wet and muddy because we were getting ready to go home. I would have pictures, but my camera battery also decided it was time to poop out.

All in all, a good trip and a good time....except for that 5 hour drive back to Houston and the kid in the back seat asking "are we almost there" every 15 minutes. :) All in all, a good weekend.

Our fearless leader over at Color Combos Galore, as been with her mom lately. She had surgery and isn't doing very well. The site and been put on hold. Us girls are trying to keep it up the best we can, but we need her back! Anyway, we are doing a Mini Challenge.

Scraplift any layout (or card) by any Design Team Member, from Challenge #145 through to Challenge #161. Now, here's the catch - use the following colour combination - brown, aqua, pink and white. Ahhh....there's a crispness in the air that says Fall is upon us, and what happens in Fall? It is one of my favorite holidays. As a kid I loved dressing up and heading out to "trick or treat". When I became a teenager, I just had to go to all of the haunted houses. It was so fun getting scared by some crazy person chasing after me with a chainsaw, lol. Now, I get to relive those memories with my little boy. We have already purchased his costume, and he continually wants to wear it around the house. Yep, I really like this holiday.

Today I haved done a post over at Really Reasonable Ribbon using this little Halloween card that I made. I used tons of ribbons from the store and several are from the Halloween section over there. The cute little ghosts are cut-ups from Nikki Sivils' Halloween collection "Boo-tiful". This was easy to make. I tied little strips of ribbons around a chipboard form. I just used a star shape, but it really doesn't matter because once you tie your ribbons to it and pull the ghosts up through the middle you can't really tell the shape of the chipboard anymore.

It has really pushed my boundaries on some of my layouts. This one isn't really creative, but I think it adds great texture by adding the jute string to the banner. Twisted Sketched #68 is Up!

This Sketch we go "vintage" any how any way!! When I was a little girl back in the 60's and 70's, I loved playing with my dolls. This included my paper dolls. I remember having these paper dolls from the book "Little Women". I think I must have really liked those long dresses that they wore. Soooo....I decided to do a layout using something that meant something to me - hence, the "Little Women" paper dolls. If you would like to play along, just check on the blog at Twisted Sketches.

I did a little combining this week. I am away for the weekend with my good friends Robbie and Kim. We will be heading off to the Creating Keepsakes Convention for a little retail therapy today. I combined my weekly work for CCG with my Really Reasonable Ribbon post. I thought this weeks color combo was going to be a huge challenge, but I love how this layout turned out!

This was our color board inspiration this week - umm.... just a little scary for me, I have to say!!

As you can see, I twisted some jute string around my layout. I got this fabulous string from Really Reasonable Ribbon. They have a great selection of ribbons at great prices. Check them out HERE. My idea for this layout is an old one of mine. I did it when I first started scrapping, but I used scraps of pattern paper instead around the heart. I figured I could do the same by using ribbon!

Wow, it is Friday already!!! I am getting so old!! I used to tease my mom, because I know the older you are the quicker time flies. I used to tell her she probably only remembers going to sleep and then waking up because it goes by so quickly. Well....umm....I think I am starting to get that way now. I swear a whole week just disappears like that! Saying that, another week has also passed for Color Combos Galore too. This week is a school layout. I used some of my Momenta papers for this one - why not kill two birds with one stone right?

Wow, I can't believe it is Thursday already! When we have a holiday on a Monday, the week just flies by! Of course, now that we have a puppy my days seem to fly by too!

I wanted to post my layout for Twisted Sketches. Our twist this week is to use fabric. I used burlap as well as some of my adorable paper from Nikki Sivils "Tree Love" collection.
